Frequently Asked Questions

Reaching out for support can bring up a lot of questions. Here are honest answers to the ones we’re asked most. If yours isn’t here, get in touch and we’re happy to talk it through.

What happens in a first session?

A first session is mostly about getting to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s brought you to reach out, what you’re hoping for, and how we might work together, at whatever pace feels comfortable for you. There’s no script to follow and nothing you have to have figured out beforehand.

Do I need a referral to get started?

No, you’re welcome to reach out and book directly. If you’re accessing support through a Mental Health Care Plan, NDIS plan, or another funding pathway, we’ll talk through what that involves and how it fits once you get in touch.

What if I'm not ready to talk about everything?

That’s completely okay. You set the pace. Therapy works best when you feel safe, and safety often means starting small and building trust over time. Not being ready to talk about everything is a normal, expected part of the process.

How do NDIS supports work with whole sense?

We work with NDIS participants across capacity building, Positive Behaviour Support, and related supports. Plan types and funding categories vary from person to person, so the best first step is to get in touch, and we’ll talk through how your plan can support the work we’d do together.

Which service is right for me?

It depends on what you’re looking for: individual, couples, or family therapy; NDIS-funded supports; or organisational and community consultancy. Have a look through our Therapy Services and NDIS Services pages, or just reach out and describe what’s going on, and we’ll help you find the right starting point.

What session formats are available?

We’re happy to talk about what format works best for you: in person, online, or a mix of both. Get in touch and we can find an arrangement that suits your circumstances.

What are your fees?

Fees vary depending on the type of support and funding pathway. Get in touch for current pricing and to talk through any rebate or plan-funded options that may apply to you.

How do I know if we're the right fit?

The first session is as much about you assessing fit as it is about us getting started. There’s no obligation to continue if it doesn’t feel right. What matters most is that you feel safe and understood.
